EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER / ROOM LEADER / EDUCATIONAL LEADER POSITION
We are a community-based, not-for-profit long-day care centre looking Early Childhood Teacher/Educational Leader. Our centre is a small 39-place centre catering for children from 3-5 years of age. Our beautiful centre has operated for more than 40 years. Recently renovated, it has a wonderful open-floor plan and large natural outdoor environment, including large trees, space and shade. We are situated in Chatswood.
A dedicated volunteer Committee oversees the Centre’s operations. The Committee includes community members as well as Centre parents who work together to support our dedicated and passionate Centre Director and team.
Operational hours are 8:00am – 6:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:00am – 4:00pm on Friday. The person we seek would work full-time or possibly job-share.
The successful applicant must be a confident and passionate educator with a desire to implement a program that promotes the success of all children. We seek someone who will support the Centre in the creation of meaningful connections among educators, Centre Director/Nominated Supervisor, volunteer Committee and families whilst adhering to and promoting adherence to relevant regulations.
Guided by an array of theoretical approaches, the Centre offer a holistic approach to children’s education, focusing on a play-based program. We recognise and warmly embrace the multicultural diversity among our families and promote this through our program.
While we focus on school readiness, we embrace all areas of learning including social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. Our team of passionate early childhood educators has a wealth of experience and interests. Having a high staff-to-child ratio supports the implementation of our high-quality program.
Our centre received ‘Exceeding’ for our Education Program and Practice in its last Assessment and Rating. That rating reflects the high standards of our intentional school readiness program. In this, our staff provide a program guided by the Early Year Learning Framework, incorporating the children’s interests and diverse cultural backgrounds.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
-
Mentor a dedicated team of Educators to implement a high-quality and stimulating Education Program
-
Be a role model both on and off the floor, demonstrating best practice in relation to programming, compliance and positive relationships with children

Room Leader
-
Use a strong knowledge of the NQS, EYLF and stages of child development to drive and lead the Educational Program
-
Promote an environment where children feel safe and secure
-
Develop and maintain nurturing relationships with families and co-workers
-
You will be allocated time in the office to support the Director/Nominated Supervisor on compliance tasks and Educational Leader duties

Willingness to support innovation and change, keeping the centre up-to-date with latest practices
-
Have input and help drive the Quality Improvement Plan and Self-Assessment Tool.
You will have the following Qualifications and personal experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education recognised by ACECQA
-
2 years’ experience as an Educational Leader (desirable)
-
Experience in leading a team of Educators
-
Experience in supporting administration of the centre
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Current Working with Children Check
-
Current First Aid Certificate
-
Understanding of the MRG reporting process
-
Experience in an Assessment and Rating process (desirable)
-
Familiarity with Story Park
-
Experience in working with a Quality Improvement Plan
-
Be double-vaccinated against COVID-19.
